The Warren has active Men’s, Women’s, Vet’s and Juniors’ sections. The sections play a mix of competitive and scocial golf throughout the year both at home and away. The sections also run teams in various regional competitions, see Warren Teams.
Many of the Club compeitions are open to all members including the Wednesday and weekend roll-ups.
Ladies’ Section
The Ladies’ Section strives to be friendly and competitive. We run a competition every Thursday, entry £4/player including 2’s, throughout the year. These include fun team and individual events through to more serious cup competitions. We also run a number of single and pairs knock-out competitions. There is also a roll-up 9 hole stableford one Monday a month.
The Ladies run one or two events each year such as Opens & Coffee Mornings. We have a number of away days and play team golf in the Devon League, Devon Golf Sheelah Creasy Bowl as well as playing Ladies’ friendly matches against a number of other local clubs.
Men Vets’ section
The Warren Vets hold competitions every Tuesday. These vary from fun compititions thru to Section trophy competitions. Sign-up sheets are posted in advance and a random computer draw determines playing partners. Start times are posted on the Vets’ board and emailed to members. The weekly competition cost £3 and includes a draw for a bottle of wine and the ‘twos’ when an individual qualifier. There is also a reserve list for late entries.
From March to October the Vets play home and away matches against other Vets’ sections. Entry is by sign-up sheet and the Captain picks the team.
The Section also runs a number of away days to other clubs.
As a member of the Vets’ section you can also join the Devon Mens Veteran Golf Association (DMVGA).
New members pay £12 to join the section but this includes the section tie to be worn on match days and on other occasions as specified by the Captain. Thereafter the annual subscription is £5.
